A few success stories

Synthetic fibres make better mechanical cables than steel from every point of view. Yet steel has close to 100% of today’s market. Why?

.

Mechanical cables are useless unless you can attach something to each end. For decades this could be done with synthetic fibres only by weaving loops, which is labour-intensive and therefore too expensive for most applications.

.

Richard Campbell obtained several patents for affixing metal ends to synthetic fibre cables. His products can compete against steel cables of any size, from the ones that lash timber for haulage (today) to the largest ones that hold up suspension bridges (one day).

.

I designed a financial model which helped Richard raise $1.5m from business angels to equip a factory and start production.
